Description:

Our client, ASW Steel, a manufacturer of carbon, alloy and stainless steels; has an immediate opening for an Industrial Electrician.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for troubleshooting, analytical and preventative maintenance support for all electronic and electrical controls on plant equipment.  You will oversee the installation of machinery, equipment and electrical systems within the plant and you will program and maintain software systems and be active in test, trials and new launches.

Education/
Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five (5) years experience as an Industrial Electrician in a related industry.

Responsibilities/
Requirements:
  • Analyze, test, troubleshoot and monitor electronic production components such as computerized equipment, control instrumentation and test equipment;
  • Ensure electrical systems and equipment meet codes, regulations, guidelines, and requirements under the Electrical Safety Authority, Canadian Standards Association and Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act;
  • Analyze performance and test data for electrical and electronic equipment in the plant to determine effectiveness and efficiency;
  • Monitor data to detect changes in operational performance, trends and efficiency in comparison with manufacturers and production specifications;
  • PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Seimens);
  • Provide designs and drawings for new or modified equipment;
  • Proficient with software programs, RSView, Cytec, Run Data Base, Excel, AutoCAD or Drawings Program;
  • Conduct standard functional, operation and environmental tests to evaluate performance and reliability;
  • Troubleshoot control problems in robotic controls, electric drives and D.C. rectifier systems;
  • Make recommendations for modifications, service, maintenance and/or replacement where necessary;
  • Determine materials requirements for ongoing maintenance, P.M. activities, emergency repairs, installations, overhauls, etc.;
  • Ensure controls, instrumentation and robotics on plant equipment (ABB) are maintained in sound operating condition;
  • Use computer software to program and troubleshoot;
  • Recommend adjustments, calibrations, alignments, etc. to optimize unit performance;
  • Supervise staff in the provision of maintenance and support for the manufacturing process;
  • Ensure accurate records and documentation at all times.
Salary: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour plus benefits
