Description:

As the General Manager, you will take daily leadership, management and full operational responsibility for the operations of a company that is a leader in the production of light systems specializing in HID fixtures for the horticultural industry. The General Manager will have responsibility for sales, government relations, logistics, technical services, customer services and human resources of the Canadian operation.

Education/
Experience:

The successful candidate will combine a degree in business or marketing with a proven track record of success and a minimum of 3 years in International Sales. A background in the agriculture and/or horticulture sector is a MUST.

Responsibilities/
Requirements:

General Management Responsibilities

  • Participate in the strategic planning process
  • Develop and execute the annual operating plan based on the strategic objectives
  • Provide direct guidance, support and management to the operation including program management, assembly, test and delivery
  • Work in conjunction with management to plan resources, staffing and capital investments
  • Ensure all programs are successfully executed on budget and on time
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of the Canadian and US government regulations and forge alliances with key bureaucrats
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety, Environmental and related legal requirements are satisfied
  • Ensure the implementation of the quality control certification standards and any contracted quality standards for each customer contract
  • Create and maintain a positive, proactive and collaborative work environment that reflects the company's values
  • Ensure compliance with all international trade and security regulations in the execution of business
  • The successful candidate will operate at both the strategic and operational level


Sales Responsibilities

  • Develop and successfully execute Service and Support sales
  • Attain quarterly and annual sales objectives assigned by management
  • Understand and interpret customer requirements in order to work in partnership with customers to derive service solutions
  • Leverage business from new and established customer relationships in collaboration with the Account Managers
  • To thoroughly qualify leads and sales opportunities
  • Strategize, negotiate and close business
  • Develop technical service solutions and creation of associatedproposals to respond to customer requirements and generate associated quotations and proposals
  • Interact with internal departments to support bidding efforts
  • Ability to maintain a high level of productivity, manage multiple competing priorities and work effectively under the pressure of time constraints
  • Ability to work as part of a team to produce, document and sell customer service solutions
  • Superior negotiation, problem-solving and communication skills
