QUESTION:

I am a post grad HR student at Niagara college. I am very interested in RTW and Disability Management. I will need to do a 300 hour internship in order to graduate, and I intend to write board exams. What I am looking for is input as to where I might be able to best learn skills in RTW? I am willing to volunteer.

ANSWER:

The following are several places you can go to see if you can volunteer your time to gain the experience you require:

• Contact WSIB directly - they have a number of related programs.
• There are a few Independent WSIB Claims Administrators in the area that may also entertain a coop.
• Contact larger employers in the area (particularly manufacturing facilities) to volunteer, as "Return to Work" is usually always a challenge.
