QUESTION:
Is
a Human Resources Diploma enough in today's job market?
ANSWER:
This really depends on the Company that is recruiting and on the
type/level of position that they are recruiting for.
Health
& Safety positions - a lot of organizations will look
for continual upgrading or Certification as a Safety Specialist
Labour
Relations - Practical experience is usually required to move
into a role of this nature. Suggestion - a good
way to gain this experience is to start in a supervisor position
if possible and then move to HR. This would give you some good
strong experience administering a collective agreement.
Strong
administrative skills and good computer skills are required for
most entry level positions particularly when dealing with HRIS
systems or pension and benefits administration.
If
you are looking to move into an HR role, taking on a recruiting
role is a good way to start.
