Our client is currently seeking an experienced 3RD Class Stationary Engineer to operate and monitor all utility equipment located outside the boiler house which includes cooling towers, refrigeration systems, air compressors, steam condensate collection systems, wastewater and process water plants and emergency diesel generators.

Education:

  • Successful completion of a 3rd Class Operating Engineer TSSA Certificate. This TSSA certificate requires the successful completion of TSSA exams.
  • Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, TSSA and related regulations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate basic computer software applications as well as outlook and to conduct research using the internet.
  • Must have a working knowledge and experience in the repair and maintenance of various types of mechanical equipment. Diagnostic and problem-solving skills related to technical issues.
  • Must be able to read process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mechanical drawings and follow mechanical specifications.

Experience:

  • Successful completion of practical steam time in a 2nd Class plant or greater.
  • Acquired relevant hands-on related work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. Developed interpersonal / communication and ability to work cooperatively and respectfully within a team.
  • Ability to deal with other staff/contractors with tact, diplomacy, and courtesy.
  • Relevant plant experience and be familiar with plant operations, chemical processing equipment, procedures, and related systems an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Relieve Operating Engineers Third Class and Operating Engineers Second Class as needed for vacation and illness.
  • Conduct daily work activities in support of HSE objectives and policies.
  • Use personal accountability to assist with carrying out duties, responsibilities, and authority as defined in HSE programs, practices, and procedures.
  • Understand HSE policies and programs.
  • Work safely, with respect to health and environmental requirements.
  • Follow the procedures for the ISO 9001 Program to meet the company’s quality policies of conducting business that exceed the expectations and needs of our customers in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position including climbing ladders and stairs, walking, bending, stooping etc.
  • Must have good manual dexterity and experience using industrial hand tools and power tools.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including a respirator.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, work at heights and work from platforms.

 Additional information:

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays and call-in as needed to maintain a 24/7 operating plant.
