BGC Niagara is a charitable, community-supported organization and part of Canada’s largest child and youth-serving agency, dedicated to helping children and youth reach their full potential. Since 1960, BGC Niagara has provided a broad spectrum of services for children and youth ages 0 to 24, including food, shelter, transportation, childcare, aquatics, recreation, physical activity, leadership, and life skills programs.
The mission of BGC Niagara is to provide safe, supportive places where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.
Today, BGC Niagara serves vulnerable children and youth across the Niagara Region through three major centres located in Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, and St. Catharines, as well as ten satellite program locations throughout the region. In 2025, the organization served more than 5,700 unique children and youth and delivered over 250,000 program visits, supported by a dedicated team of approximately 160 staff members. As a leading provider of high-quality programs, BGC Niagara offers transformative experiences that are accessible, reliable, and open to all, with a strong focus on providing safe places where young people can build confidence, develop skills, and experience success.
In addition to youth services, the organization also delivers select adult programming, including operating a community fitness centre that supports health and wellness across the broader community.
The Opportunity
BGC Niagara is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization in partnership with the Board of Directors and guide its continued growth and impact across the Niagara Region.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission and ensuring the effective achievement of its strategic objectives. The CEO provides overall leadership and direction for the organization, overseeing programs, operations, financial stewardship, human resources, and community engagement.
Working collaboratively with the Board, staff, volunteers, and community partners, the CEO will ensure the organization continues to deliver high-quality programs and services, strengthen its financial sustainability, and expand its impact for children, youth, and families throughout Niagara.
Key Areas of Leadership
The CEO will provide leadership in the following areas:
Strategic Leadership and Governance
- Working closely with the Board of Directors to advance the organization’s long-term strategy and vision
- Supporting effective governance practices and strong Board engagement
Operational Excellence
- Ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of programs and services across multiple locations
- Promoting continuous improvement and organizational effectiveness
Financial Stewardship
- Overseeing financial planning, budgeting, and reporting
- Ensuring sound financial management and long-term sustainability
Fund Development and Community Partnerships
- Strengthening relationships with funders, donors, and community partners
- Supporting fundraising and revenue development initiatives
Leadership and Organizational Culture
- Leading and supporting a dedicated team of staff and volunteers
- Fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace culture
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Senior leadership experience within the not-for-profit, community services, or related sector
- Demonstrated experience working with a Board of Directors
- Strong financial management and resource development experience
- Proven ability to build relationships with government, funders, and community partners
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
A post-secondary degree in a related field is required. Experience within the non-profit sector is considered a strong asset.
