We have an exciting opportunity for a designated CPA with 3+ years of experience in a Controller position in a manufacturing setting. As a partner of management, the Controller makes a significant contribution to the sustainable success of the organization. He/she helps to design control processes in conjunction with area managers so that every decision maker can act in accordance with agreed objectives. The controller is future orientated in order to take advantage of opportunities as well as to minimize risks. He/she integrates organizational plans and goals into management control systems. The controller ensures that the quality and quantity of operational data provides timely and decision-relevant information. Reporting to the North American CFO, the Controller is the economic conscience of the company with a commitment to the financial welfare of the organization as a whole.

Primary Responsibilities:

Production / SCM Controlling:

  • Focus on business partnering and day-to-day cooperation with VP Operations/CTO and Supply Chain Manager,
  • Support all finance and controlling related topics
  • Helps to manages production controlling reporting systems in conjunction with functional managers,
  • Manages overall reporting/planning/forecast process including fulfilment of time schedule and data quality requirements,
  • Cost accounting and investment controlling,
  • Calculation of manufacturing cost analyses and ROI reports,
  • Monthly deviation analyses between actual / budget / prev. year in all significant production-related parameters (special focus on manufacturing costs, scrap costs, investments, projects, DIO)

Sales / Corporate Controlling:

  • Focus on business partnering and financial support to Sales management,
  • Supports all finance and sales controlling topics,
  • Helps to maintains sales related reporting systems,
  • Manages profitability and profit center reporting,
  • Helps to manages overall reporting/planning/forecast process including fulfilment of time schedule and data quality requirements,
  • Works cooperatively to resolve deviations to Plan (special focus on sales margins, price maintenance, sales deductions, other sales operations costs, DSO ratio),
  • Maintains strong link between corporate finance and controlling organization goals and Sales Directors’ organization.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP,
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting, reporting and ERP systems
  • Knowledge and implementation of federal and provincial/state financial regulations and obligations
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, ROI and product-line margin and profitability analysis
  • Professional demeanor with strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Expertise synthesizing and delivering financial analyses
  • Ability to motivate teams, to produce quality results within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrates a positive work ethic, is self-motivated, has a strong attention to detail and is a team player
  • Ability to work with abstract situations (blurry facts) to evaluate relevant proposals
  • Ability to cooperate in international workgroups, e.g., improving Group financial and/or controlling standards

Qualifications & Business Experience:

  • University degree and Canadian accounting designation (CPA) is required
  • 3+ years of progression through financial positions with increasing responsibility in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and accounting principles in general
  • Experience with external auditors and the audit process
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives and corporate systems in general (i.e., ERP, OLAP, BI, MS Office)
