Material Handler

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Material Handler loads, unloads, and moves products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment. The Material Handler is also responsible for sorting and stacking goods, transporting and distributing materials and goods, as well as maintaining and organizing inventory. Regular responsibilities also include preparing materials for injection molding machines and automated work cells, including molded components, Finished Goods, packaging materials, and raw materials. The Material Handler mixes materials, sets up blenders using BOM supplied in the ERP system, and ensures all areas are clean of excess parts and well stocked for raw material and automation component parts.

Responsibilities

• Set up material blenders at the beginning of runs
• Mix materials for machines that aren’t equipped with automatic blender
• Stock cleanrooms with components using First In first out (FIFO)practices
• Record shift production on internal work orders
• Create and affix product labels to component bins
• Inspect components periodically as they are molded
• Assist with automation change-overs
• Transport and organize components in the warehouse
• Assist with packaging of finished goods before shipping
• Support a safe working environment

Essential Skills and Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
• Valid Forklift Operator license
• Able to work independently and on a team
• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Ability to work on a rotating shift schedule
• Attention to detail
• Injection Molding experience is an asset
