Our client, one of Canada’s leading marine service providers is searching for an Operations Superintendent for their Norfolk County operation. The Operations Superintendent reports to General Manager and is responsible for the following:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate as the technical authority on the team.
- Take part and lead the maintenance team responsible for repairs, overhauls, and modification of marine diesel engines, diesel generators, winches, cranes, etc.
- Provides personal safety leadership to the crew.
- Prepares crew/project planning and scheduling together with colleagues.
- Provides adequate communication regarding schedule and mobilization.
- Develops a simple and effective proactive maintenance plan for critical equipment.
- Facilitates prompt supply of vessel needs.
- Maintains and updates all records of repairs, maintenance, overhauls, and drydocking.
- Handles the RFx process for all maintenance, docking, and overhaul.
- Actively works towards achieving set KPIs.
- Conducts periodic inspections of assets, documents NCs, investigates root causes, and leads implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensures assets’ compliance with Class/TC regulations at all times.
- Prepares annual budget forecast for the upcoming season.
- Develops concise operational procedures for critical equipment on assigned assets.
- Prepares periodic reports on fleet performance, safety stats, equipment utilization etc.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on mechanical experience
- Heavy industrial experience, engines, generators, hydraulic systems, cranes, heavy equipment
- Marine industry experiences are a strong asset.
- PMP or equivalent certification is an asset.

- Demonstrates strong communication skills (listening, verbal, written, including conflict resolution) and high comfort level communicating across a broad range of stakeholders from regulators to the crew.
