Our client is looking for a Tax Manager to play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality tax services across a broad client base. This position is ideal for a CPA-designated professional with deep technical expertise in Canadian tax compliance and planning, including corporate reorganizations, estate planning, and foreign reporting. With a strong understanding of current legislation and regulatory requirements, the Tax Manager provides strategic advice and ensures the accuracy and efficiency of all tax-related deliverables.
In this role, you will oversee the final review of tax filings for individuals, corporations, trusts, and partnerships, while also leading complex tax planning engagements. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients and partners, providing proactive solutions informed by thorough research and analysis. The Tax Manager is also responsible for mentoring junior staff, managing engagement budgets, and fostering continuous development within the team.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Review
- Perform final review of personal, corporate, trust, and partnership tax filings
- Ensure all foreign reporting requirements are addressed and compliant with current legislation
- Review the tax components of audit and review engagements when required
Tax Planning & Advisory
- Lead tax planning engagements, including the preparation and review of technical tax memoranda
- Review instruction letters related to corporate reorganizations, estate and post-mortem planning, succession strategies, and business transitions
- Conduct in-depth tax research and interpret proposed or existing legislation to develop strategic recommendations for clients
- Identify significant tax issues and communicate recommendations to Partners and Senior Managers
- Collaborate with Assurance Partners on relevant tax planning opportunities
Client Communication & Support
- Participate in client meetings to present tax strategies, address technical matters, and provide planning insights
- Manage correspondence with the CRA and provincial tax authorities regarding client matters
- Oversee billing, WIP management, and engagement recoverability for assigned tax files
Mentorship & Team Development
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor for junior and intermediate tax professionals
- Delegate and supervise assignments effectively, ensuring quality and timely completion
- Support ongoing staff development through coaching, feedback, and knowledge sharing
Qualifications
- CPA designation (CPA, CA)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public practice, with at least 2 years focused on tax
- Enrolled in or completed the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program or a Master of Taxation (MTax)
- Solid understanding of Canadian income tax legislation
- Experience in corporate reorganizations and estate planning is considered a strong asset
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex tax laws and provide practical, client-focused solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
