Our client, an established manufacturing company, is looking for a dynamic Intermediate Developer to join their team. The role involves designing, developing, troubleshooting, debugging and testing applications to support the Manufacturing Execution and related Systems (MES). Reporting to the IT Manager, the successful candidate must have experience in Visual Basic applications, 5 or more years of experience in developing manufacturing solutions and have a solid analytical and problem-solving mindset.

What you’ll do:

  • Write and deliver code while understanding business requirements
  • Analyze, code, test, and debug applications
  • Maintain and modify programs as required, including after-hours support as needed
  • Create tools or queries to obtain data for the purposes of reporting and analysis
  • Deliver required technical documentation
  • Assist other IT personnel as needed
  • Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives
  • Adhere to and comply with all applicable company policies and procedures
  • Participate in meetings and committees as required, to facilitate effective communication between different groups
  • Other tasks as determined by the IT Manager

What you bring:

  • College Diploma in Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years experience developing manufacturing solutions
  • C# /VB.NET, ASP.NET (2008 or 2010), Visual Basic experience required
  • Demonstrated report writing ability
  • Strong technical, logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Software Development Life Cycle, Object-Oriented Design and Programming
  • SQL Server 2012 and Visual Studio 2012
  • Mobile Development for Hand Scanners
  • MS Excel, MS Access
  • AS/400 an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as individually
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are 75 pounds or heavier, repeatedly
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility
  • Ability to meet physical and cognitive demands assessments
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check in accordance with the company’s policy
